Real relief for back pain!

March 31st, 2009 by Sha

My honey Pete has had terrible back and neck pain daily since we met over nine years ago. Recently it had gotten even worse, to the point that he could not stand up straight after getting up in the morning and was in pain all of his waking hours. Aside from the fact that it was painful to watch, I felt awful not being able to do anything to help him. While channel surfing one day I saw Mr. Teeter on one of those shopping channels demonstrating his device, the Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 Inversion Therapy Table Real relief for back pain!. It was impressive, and expensive. The next day I got online and did some research on inversion tables. Pete is 6’ 4” and 200+ lbs. so he needed a table that is very sturdy. After all the research this is the only table that looked like it could handle his size, so I started price shopping. To my delight the EP-950 was available from Amazon.com, and was $100 less than other retailers. Also, because I am a Prime member, there was no shipping charge for this large item. I purchased the table and am so glad I did because it has done wonders for his back problems. He uses the table several times a day and is taking Flex-a-min Complete Extra Strength Formula, a Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM supplement. These two things have made such an incredible difference, we are both amazed. Now he has no problems standing up straight in the morning, has very little pain, and is feeling much better. He also has a lot more energy throughout the day. I have started using it, too. I do not have extreme problems with my back, but do have lower back pain fairly frequently and the inversion table has eliminated it completely. I also feel more energetic throughout the day when I use the table. The Teeter EP-950 inversion table is worth every penny!

B.F.C. is UFO country!

March 25th, 2009 by Sha

There’s a show called UFO Hunters on the History channel, tonight’s episode was called “Underground Alien Bases” (ep. #46, 3/25/09). The bulk of the show was filmed in and around Dulce, NM, at a place called Archuleta Mesa.

So check this – Dulce, NM is about 30 miles from our house, and we can clearly see Archuleta Mesa from our patio. I almost feel cheated because I have not seen a UFO since we’ve lived here! What we have seen on several occasions is a very bright light, on the Mesa and behind it. Those instances were very memorable because there are no lights on out here at night, so when they showed up (and later disappeared) it was unmistakable. And, once last summer, Pete and I saw a black helicopter fly from one end of the valley to the other. We watched with our binoculars as it slowly went by and could see a man perched in the open side door. He seemed to be looking for something. An escaped alien perhaps? Cool!

If you don’t have cable/satellite tv you can watch the episode online at www.historychannel.com.

Come on, spring!

March 17th, 2009 by Sha

While doing mundane tasks today I realized that Friday is the Spring Equinox, hooray! About this time of year I am so over winter it’s not even funny. The time change has been nice, now it’s light until 7 pm and there is time to get things done around here. The snow is nearly all gone on our south facing property so I took a walk the other day to assess the winter damages. Not so bad this year, only thing I’ve seen so far is a broken pipe going into one of the two water storage cisterns we have here at the house. At least that’s an easy one to fix, we’ve had enough things going on the past few months and my handywoman skills are ready for a break!

ZenPhoto installed!

March 12th, 2009 by Sha

Yesterday I spent 12 hours working on the site, specifically on the installation of photo gallery software called ZenPhoto. I have to say that experience was in no way zen, at one point the whole site had been wiped out and I was ready to give up on the entire project. But those who know me know that I am determined, a little stubborn even, and there was no way this virtual world was going to get one over on me. After taking a break I dove right back into the mess and figured out how to recover the blog, the website, and finally got the ZenPhoto installed and running! It seems to be a very good photo gallery package with lots of flexibility, and the dynamic gallery function is what really sold me on this particular handler.  So there will be more changes to come, and the photos link will more than likely come and go over the next week or so while I continue to build the galleries and configure ZenPhoto to my liking.

Why did I wait so long?

I have to say I’m liking WordPress very much. It’s only been a couple of days and I think I’m getting the hang of tweaking this thing. What I like most at this point is that it’s dynamic, and so easy to change the look of the site with the themes. I used to hand code HTML and make templates, which had to be changed for every single page in the site manually. With WordPress it’s as simple as uploading themes to your webspace, logging into the Dashboard and selecting the theme you want to use. WordPress uses the information that you’ve entered into the database via the Dashboard to dynamically create pages as they are accessed, so as you make changes to the template the program automatically updates every page. Once your basic site information is entered and the pages are built you are done, except for the blogging of course.
