What the heck does B.F.C. mean?

February 28th, 2009 by Sha

B.F.C. is an acronym for Bum F@%*, Colorado, a nickname I’ve given to the rural area where I live in southwest Colorado. I’m 8 miles from my mailbox, and 15 miles from the nearest town (and I use the term “town” loosely). There are no public utilities in our area aside from electricity, and there is no trash service. Our dirt and gravel road is a half mile long, uphill, and curvy – a total pain during mud and snow season and only half of the distance we have to travel to get to the county road from our house. What we do have is 40 acres of 50+ foot pine trees, a cozy home, a large barn, and an incredible 180+ degree view of the facing mountains and the valley below.  We have very few neighbors, and the closest of them is over half a mile away. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful here, and with virtually no light pollution the night sky is filled with more stars than I have ever seen. Living in the middle of almost nowhere has its ups and downs, just like anywhere,  but we love living in such a remote location and are very grateful to call this place that we’ve named Cloud9 our home.

Something new

After all these years of using Blogger.com I’ve taken the plunge and upgraded to WordPress. There will be a learning curve, so please hold your pithy comments until I’ve finished.
